Maya Mariang (she/her, *2000) is a German-Indian, transdisciplinary artist currently based in the Netherlands. With roots in the matrilineal Khasi tribe of Meghalaya in North-East India, her main inspiration stems from nature and ecological mythologies. She is a recent graduate from the Royal Academy of Arts The Hague.

In her works she explores eco-mythologies and folktales while questioning how one can find radical kinship with inorganic entities and the more-than-human world. Through exploring the narratives of inorganic matter such as stones or soil while trying to unearth how can we reimagine and retell ancient stories and knowledge, and thus reconnect with the aspects of care between humans and nature.
